    Description

This paper OWL fan is quite striking.  It is hard to tell from the photos but there are some gold flakes remaining on the "Brown/Gold" leaf and a light silver edging around the leaf.  The "World's Fair 1893" looks hand painted in gold.  The bamboo rib support of the paper leaf is reminiscent of Japanese Uchiwa fan fabrication.  The leaf is 8-3/4" W x 9-3/4" H and the total fan with the black lacquered stick is 14-1/2" high.
