Forestry Building
(shown). Their listing in "The Official Directory" of exhibitors shows the location (shown and digitally highlighted). Berry Bros was founded in
Detroit in 1861
and operated at least until 1925. Berry bought the huge plank from the
Falk Mill
in Humboldt County, CA, and had it shipped to Chicago for the Fair. We visited
Muir Woods National Park
in 1996 and the plank was
displayed on its side
inside a sheltered Ramada; it had hobnail markers hammered in at various
tree rings
with the age of the tree at that time given (shown). We published an article about the plank in the "Fair News" magazine. Another survivor of the WCE.
